While chasing a score of 275 runs, Gill played an outstanding innings, holding the innings together with accuracy and assurance. His beautifully crafted 112 off 124 balls, dotted with beautiful cover drives and lofted shots, saw India through a smooth chase, despite initial jitters.

Earlier, Bangladesh had set up a fighting total of 274/8 in their 50 overs. Their batting was spearheaded by Liton Das (87) and Shakib Al Hasan (62), who formed a solid middle-order stand after the Indian bowlers had made initial inroads. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav were the pick of the bowlers with three wickets each to restrict Bangladesh from reaching the 300-run mark.

India responded with a jittery start as Rohit Sharma was lost early, followed by the fall of Virat Kohli, who was run out for 35. But Gill’s aggressive strokeplay, ably supported by KL Rahul’s 48 and Hardik Pandya’s 32 not out, steered India to a four-over victory.
