GT vs LSG Highlights, IPL 2025: Lucknow defeated table-leaders Gujarat by 33 runs

 

In an exciting match of IPL 2025, table-toppers Gujarat Titans (GT) were stunned by Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) when they defeated them by 33 runs in a surprise turn of events. The match was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad where LSG produced an all-round team show to outclass Gujarat in both departments. This shocking outcome has turned the points table on its head as the playoffs approach.

 

LSG, having won the toss, decided to bat first and utilized the conditions to the hilt. Opener KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock provided a solid start, with Rahul holding the fort with a patient 55 off 40. Marcus Stoinis then provided the needed boost to the innings with a blistering 41 off mere 23 deliveries, ably complemented by Nicholas Pooran’s cameo at the end. Lucknow finished their innings at a competitive 176 for 6 from their 20 overs. Gujarat’s bowling, while being disciplined in spells, found it difficult to contain runs in the last overs, with Mohit Sharma and Rashid Khan being the only two who were able to have some control.

 

Gujarat Titans had an uneven start while chasing 177. Star batsman Shubman Gill was dismissed cheaply, and the middle order fell apart under pressure, with LSG bowling keeping it tight. Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi tied a noose around GT batters in the middle overs, earning a couple of vital wickets. However, Bishnoi’s performance was the one to remember, taking 3 wickets for only 21 runs. Gujarat were bowled out for 143 in 18.5 overs, in spite of a fighting knock of 44 off 29 balls from David Miller.

 

This win was a welcome one for LSG, not merely for the points but for their confidence as well, since they overcame the most consistent side of the season up to this point. The loss is a wake-up call for Gujarat before the business end of the tournament. With the league gaining intensity, the two teams will seek to tighten up their weaknesses and refine their strategy.
