India’s campaign at Paralympics Paris 2024 begins today
This year India has sent their largest-ever team for the Paralympics, and all are focused on putting up their mark at the Paralympics Paris 2024, each player at the Paralympics is determined to give their best performance and make their nation proud. The matches will start today on Thursday, 29/082024 and we can see Indian athletes in action in various sports such as badminton, archery, and table tennis as they have to go through the preliminary rounds first. Sheetal Devi a sixteen-year-old para- Archer will be the first Indian athlete on the field to start India’s campaign in Paris Paralympics 2024 in the Women’s Individual Compound Open Ranking Round, with her fellow countrymen Sarita. She is very well known for hitting targets with her mouth and legs, previously at the Asian Para games in Hangzhou, she won 2 gold and 1 silver medal. Sheetal Devi is eager to claim the top position in the Women’s Compound Archery Open Ranking Round. Rakesh Kumar is eyeing getting his first Paralympics medal in archery, after just missing his medal at the Tokyo Paralympics. Rakesh Kumar will also begin his campaign in the Men’s Individual Compound Open Ranking Round at the Paralympics Paris’ 24. He has won many medals while featuring in different events and is now focusing on winning a medal in the Paralympics this year. Other athletes to start their campaigns at Paralympics Paris’ 24 will be Harvinder Singh in men’s recurve individual, Shyam Sundar Swami in men’s compound individual, and Pooja in women’s recurve open individual. Top contenders to win a medal for India in para badminton, are Sukant Kadam, Manoj Sarkar, Suhas Yathiraj, Manasi Joshi, Tarun Dhillon, Nitesh Kumar, Thulasimathi Murugesan, Manish Ramdass, and Palak Kohli, will start their campaigns with the group stages. India’s Aruna Tanwar will begin her campaign for para-tekwondo in the round of 16 and will be competing in women’s K44-47 kg category.
