A mega event was hosted to congratulate our para-athletes, in which the sports minister announced to give Rs 75 lakh to the gold medalist, Rs 50 lakh to the silver medalist, and 30 lakhs to the bronze medalist. The athletes participating in the mixed events like Sheetal Devi in archery will receive an amount of Rs 22.5 lakh. These awards show us that the government is giving priority to sports and providing them with the necessary facilities to excel in their sports. He also highlighted the progress of our para-athletes in Paralympics over the years, from winning 4 medals in 2016, and 19 in the Tokyo games, to a historic 29 medals in Paris 2024. This year India finished in 18th position in the medal tally. Mandaviya shows enthusiasm in ourĀ para-athletes about winning more medals, especially the gold, in the next Paralympics games in Los Angeles in 2028. As we know India has won 29 medals in Paralympics this year, it was India’s best performance in Paralympics history. Now India has won more than 50 medals in total at the Paralympic games, which is a great achievement for the nation. As our athletes returned on Tuesday, they received a grand and joyful welcome from the supporters. Their performance has brought joy to the nation and increased expectations and hopes for future events.
